The Upcoming Election

Time to vote for the planet

How should you vote?

It can't have passed you by that there is an election very soon and if you have been following the news you might well have been disappointed by the lack of importance the main parties are putting on the environment in their manifestos and the worrying focus on house building at any cost.

What can you do? Contact your candidates!

Why not write to your candidates and ask them what they will do to protect the trees in your area, threatened by development or inadequate legal protections!

Who will get your vote?

Trees are important and they are being talked about. If enough people raise their importance with candidates, it could help push them up the political agenda. We have drafted a template for you to use if you'd like to. Feel free to change/personalise however you'd like to. To find out who the candidates are in your area you can find them here. Why not also read about the important issues The Woodland Trust are calling for the next government to act on.

Alternatively, you can write to candidates directly through this page and support the issues The Woodland Trust are calling for action on. Also worth checking is this blog by Wild Justice which has various people responding to the manifestos and how they stack up environmentally.

Sadly it's not looking like trees and the wider environment will be top of the agenda for whichever party is next in Government, which means we have much to do!
