Trees under threat in Bristol city centre

Without consultation, five London plane trees (Platanus x hispanica) will be removed from the Centre Promenade outside the Hippodrome in proposals for redeveloping the site.
Bristol Tree Forum have questioned whether all options have been explored and a petition has also been started to try and save these mature trees.
The petition says, "Please sign the petition and make Bristol Council adhere to their own planning rules and save these mature trees. We need to retain their biodiversity, the carbon dioxide captured, and the character of the Centre. Bristol is a wonderful city and the trees and green spaces are a vital part of it. Please sign and help us save the Centre's trees."
