Huge ancient woodland in Kent under threat

Oaken Wood in Kent

Please add your name to the petition to stop the loss of nearly 50 hectares of irreplaceable ancient woodland. Particularly important if you live in Kent or the South East - do share this!

A beloved 41 hectare ancient woodland called Oaken Wood in Kent is under threat from a quarry expansion and Kent County Council meets to discuss it tomorrow (the 16th).

There's a petition against the proposed expansion by Hermitage Quarry - please add your name! If it goes ahead, it would be the biggest loss of ancient woodland, in England, this century. If approved, the loss could even surpass ancient woodland losses from the Lower Thames Crossing and HS2 schemes combined.

The Reform-led council has made a number of nature-poor decisions recently, and this is lined up to be the next. So local campaigners are working round the clock to make sure that local opposition is heard.
