Campaigners and residents are delighted

Campaigners have won a hard-fought victory in Plymouth to protect a small but valuable undesignated green space from development.

Wilmot Gardens Community Green in Plymouth has finally had a planning application refused and it looks as though the 1/3 acre site will remain as green space for local residents to enjoy. The refusal also means that the 5 mature trees, due to be felled are safe.

Residents were supported by The Open Spaces Society, STRAW Plymouth and Goodenough Ring Solicitors, who represented Frank Hartkopf.

The Open Spaces Society made this statement, calling on Plymouth City Council to register to space as a Village Green to protect it from future threats.
