Canopy Coalition respond to the Oaken Wood Consultation

The largest loss of ancient woodland this century is being proposed and we need your help!

41 acres of ancient woodland is under threat by the expansion of a quarry and Kent County Council are running a consultation on it.

It's really important that as many people as possible respond to this consultation - the UK has only 2.5-3% of its ancient woodland left and is the most nature-depleted in Europe. Not only is it an essential habitat, it is also a significant and essential carbon sink. 

Please see information from the Woodland Trust on the wood including advice on your response. Kent County Council are only considering comments on quite narrow grounds.
