200 year old oak save by family in Exmouth
A 200-year-old oak tree in Exmouth, which was under threat from felling for a subsidence claim, has been saved by the great efforts of the family who own the tree and the local community.
Linda and Scott Cantrill have lived with the prospect of losing their beloved oak for 3 years but have finally got a decision that the insurance company - LV, have backed down after failing to prove the fault was with the tree.
Exmouth Town Council’s planning committee unanimously voted to refuse the application to remove a Tree Preservation Order, following residents’ testimonies and a report by a tree officer, which cited insufficient and unreliable evidence linking the tree to the damage.
The family intend to continue to campaign to help save other trees being threatened by insurance companies and loss adjusters.
